From the period between 1900-1950, the Collection mainly includes items designed and influenced by the Art Deco and Bauhaus Movements. The mission of the Bauhaus School (Germany, 1919-1933) was to bring art into contact with everyday life, thus the design of everyday objects was given the same importance as fine art. Art Deco (1920s, 1930s) was a highly popular style of decorative art, design and architecture during the inter-war years . It eliminated the flowing curvilinear forms of Art Nouveau and replaced them with Cubist and Precisionist-inspired geometric shapes. Art Deco was also influenced by the simple architectural designs of The Bauhaus.
