Designed in 1960 for the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Copenhagen, formally known as the SAS Royal Hotel, the asymmetric conical shape of the fixture head clearly delineates the direction of the light. Arne Jacobsen was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and as designer he made prototypes for furniture, textiles, wallpaper, silverware etc. Among his most famous designs are the Egg and the Swan Chairs.
