Details and Condition: Gilded Shan Bronze Buddha placed on an exquisitely decorated lotus throne. The exquisite facial lines add an expression of peaceful meditation. Buddha is sitting in a posture where the right arm is pendant over the right knee with the palm turned inward and all the fingers extended downward with the finger touching the lotus throne. The left hand lies on the lap with palm upward as a gesture of meditation. This gesture of 'touching the earth' or 'calling the earth to witness' symbolizes Buddha’s victory over temptation by the demon Mara. His elongated earlobes reflect his royal origins and the flame his wisdom and enlightenment.
