Details and Condition:: A large seated crowned and bejeweled Buddha in gilded dry lacquer with mirrored glass. Buddha is seated on an equally exquisitely decorated throne in a posture where the right arm is pendant over the right knee with the palm turned inward and all the fingers extended downward with the finger touching the lotus throne. The left hand lies on the lap with palm upward as a gesture of meditation. This gesture of 'touching the earth' or 'calling the earth to witness' symbolizes Buddha’s victory over temptation by the demon Mara. His elongated earlobes reflect his royal origins and the flame his wisdom and enlightenment
