Details and Condition: Beautiful Saxbo vase in brown glaze with incised decorations in green and lighter brown glaze. The piece has no model number but is marked with the Saxbo yin-yang symbol encircled (the marking used in the period from 1949-1968), four dots (the marks of Saxbo’s master turner Sigurd Kjær)and E.ST.N. The Vase has two marks in the rim to indicate it is second quality, likely because there is a list in the glaze on one of the sides. Saxbo (1930-1968) is now widely recognized as one of the finest independent ceramic workshops in Scandinavia with a wide and far ranging influence on several generations of ceramicists. Today, pieces are included in the collections of the Copenhagen Industrial Arts Museum, The Swedish National Museum, the New York Museum of Modern Art and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Arts.
