Details and Condition: Very early bowl designed by Gunnar Nylund before leaving Saxbo in 1931. The bowl is market with the Kiln, N&K for Nylund & Krebs , the model number 3 and the size number IV. This model is one of the commercially most successful Saxbo models and was in production until closure in 1968 in many different colors. This bowl is a fine example of the evolution of the technique when compared to later models, its not a fine and neither completely straight. Gunnar Nylund designed the first mark, the Kiln (flaming oven) and the name Nylund & Krebs (N&K) which was maintained until autumn 1930 when the company took the name Saxbo. Saxbo (1930-1968) is now widely recognized as one of the finest independent ceramic workshops in Scandinavia with a wide and far ranging influence on several generations of ceramicists. Today, pieces are included in the collections of the Copenhagen Industrial Arts Museum, The Swedish National Museum, the New York Museum of Modern Art and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Arts.
